I got a chance to sit down with lead producer Chris Sigaty and senior art director Samwise Didier for 30 minutes and chat about StarCraft II. They shed some light on: why they decided to go with a trilogy now after over three years of development on StarCraft II, when the beta keys will be use able, how the Activision/Blizzard merger has effected the development, and just when this game will release.
There were some other interesting answers that aren't in the video because we tried to boil down 30 minutes of Q&A into an interesting 5 minute video, but I will write about the other things they talked about in an upcoming post.
NOTE: It was brought to my attention that the awesome artwork that I used as the banner for this story was created by a talented 3D artist named Dave Levy. I found the artwork on a different StarCraft Web site and put a StarCraft II logo on it for the purposes of my interview. I was glad however, when Dave brought to my attention that it was his original artwork because I had a chance to check out his Web site, www.slight-shift.com. He has some other original StarCraft artwork that is top-notch. Head over to his site and check it out!
Enjoy the interview after the jump!
